The New iTunes 8.1 Software

The version of iTunes has just been released. So what does this mean for users?

Well first of all, iTunes 8.1 now has support for the new iPod Shuffle 3rd Generation. This is the iPod Shuffle without the screen, the one that talks to you. This enables syncing with this new version. What this new version does is create a small music file that is added to the new model when you sync a song to tell it what to speak to you. Very simple, and it works.

Second of all, it now adds the Genius sidebar for your Movies and TV Shows. For those of you who don't know what the Genius sidebar is, its a feature in iTunes that was just for music - It looks at the songs on your iPod and matches songs that are quite like each other, to show you what you might like too.

Also, for manually managed iPods, there is now an Autofill feature. This will make things a lot easier for those who choose to manually manage instead of using the iTunes library.

Moreover, this new version allows CDs to be imported at the same sound quality as from iTunes Plus. This means that the quality will be increased now. This is great for those with all of their music on CDs.

The main benefit of this version is that they've made it run a lot quicker than in previous versions. Those with huge iTunes library's in the past may have found iTunes quite slow while navigating. This new one solves these issues. There is also many bug fixes.
